Ayurveda

What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a 5,000 year old science and holistic medical system from India. It is the Sister Science to Yoga and considered to be the Mother of all Healing. Ayurveda is a practical lifestyle regime in which each person comes to understand oneself mentally, physically and emotionally very well. We awaken the natural wisdom within each of us. We become connected once again to the cycles of nature, our immediate environment and most importantly, to our higher Self. Knowing how to take care of ourselves is a process of incorporating daily habits that promote balance, radiance, clarity and peace.
Five Sense Therapies.
Ayurveda uses all 5 senses to help a person stay in balance in these trying times when life is busy, stressful and demanding. It is practical and simple, yet, not always easy to do! We have forgotten our true nature as spirit, and Ayurveda is a journey on the path back to sanity and health on every level of our being. Some examples of 5 sense therapies are: food, herbs, self-massage, aromatherapy, mantra, and color therapy. Your practitioner will be your guide and teacher.
Ether, Air, Fire, Water, Earth.
Life through an Ayurvedic lens sees that all things are made of the 5 elements; Ether, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. All of life has these 5 elements in varying proportions. These elements are metaphoric for their energetic qualities. Examples of identifying qualities, would be; hot or cold, moist or dry, light or heavy, sharp or dull, etc. When working with an individual person, we are slightly or drastically different from each other in our energetic make-up. An Ayurvedic Practitioner is trained to determine your unique energetic make-up, and be able to recommend 5 sense therapies to align an individual to match their point of balance. Sometimes we have come a long way from where we began in life, meaning, we may not be feeling as in balance as we would like to. Regaining balance within our bodies, mind and spirit can be a gentle and gradual journey back to our true nature.
